Who We Are
PlayHood is India's Family Play Movement — a community-driven initiative that brings families back outside through traditional Indian games. We are not a gym, not a fitness app, and not a sports academy. We are a movement built to solve a very real problem: Indian families are together but increasingly disconnected, spending more time on individual screens than in shared outdoor play.
Founded as a partnership between two co-founders, PlayHood was registered in 2026 as an official Indian business entity, operating with the mission of reviving 90s-style outdoor games — Lagori, Hopscotch, Gilli-Danda, Kho-Kho, and many more — as a medium for family bonding, physical wellness, and community building.
Our Mission: Bring families back outside through play, movement, health, and community. Games are the medium. Families are the mission.
What We Do
Every Sunday, PlayHood organizes free community meetups at local parks where families of all ages — children, parents, and grandparents — come together to play traditional Indian games. We believe wellness shouldn't require a gym membership, and family bonding shouldn't require expensive activities.
Beyond our free community meetups, PlayHood is building a comprehensive Game Science Framework — currently mapping 500+ traditional games to their specific physical and mental wellness benefits, including strength, agility, coordination, balance, and family bonding outcomes, with a vision to grow this to 1000+.
We also offer traditional game equipment for purchase or rental, and structured game courses for families and communities who want to bring PlayHood's programs to their own neighborhoods, schools, or residential societies.
